The UPSC Civil Services Examination is a prestigious and challenging test that serves as the gateway to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and several other coveted civil services.
The UPSC Civil Services Exam is conducted in three stages:

Preliminary: This stage is objective in nature and consists of two papers: General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II (CSAT). The papers are of 200 marks each and the total duration of the exam is three hours.

Mains: This stage is subjective in nature and consists of nine papers: General Studies Paper I, General Studies Paper II, General Studies Paper III, General Studies Paper IV, Essay, Optional Paper I, Optional Paper II, and English and Hindi Language Papers. The papers are of 250 marks each the duration of each paaper is three hours.

Interview: This stage is conducted to assess the candidate's personality, suitability for public service, and communication skills. The interview is of 275 marks.
Passing Ratio
- The passing ratio for the UPSC Civil Services Exam is very low. In 2022, the passing ratio for the Preliminary exam was 15.27%, the passing ratio for the Mains exam was 2.24%, and the passing ratio for the Interview was 62.54%.
